Welcome to the Galveston County Emergency Services District #2
Our Website Accessibility Statement
Updated: September 2025.
General
Our organization is committed to providing a website and digital services that are accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We design, develop, and maintain content with usability and inclusivity in mind, and we continually improve based on user feedback and accessibility best practices.
Standards Compliance
We aim to meet or exceed Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level A and Level AA.
Our practices include: keyboard-accessible navigation; meaningful headings and landmarks; text alternatives for non-text content; sufficient color contrast; visible focus indicators; captions and transcripts for multimedia; descriptive form labels and error handling; and accessible, tagged PDFs.
Accessibility Features and Compatibility
We test with common assistive technologies and browsers, including screen readers (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver), screen magnifiers, speech recognition, and keyboard-only navigation.
We strive to ensure compatibility with current versions of major browsers and mobile operating systems. Some legacy documents and content from third parties may not fully meet the above standards; upon request, we will provide accessible alternatives or remediations.
Accommodations and Alternative Formats
Upon request, we provide information in alternative formats (for example, accessible PDFs, large print, braille, audio, or other reasonable accommodations) and can assist with completing forms or accessing services.
If you encounter a barrier, please include the page URL, the assistive technology or browser you are using, and a brief description of the issue so we can address it promptly.
